For Woven @ the Mill I wanted to explore this one rich material on an intimate scale to see what would emerge and to extend my work in textile collage. Letting go of preconceived outcomes brings challenge & discomforting edges, quite the opposite of the blankets satin-edged mission.
This contemplative practice of wander & wonder encompasses place, people, origin and process. With many threads to follow, at one moment recalling Shamanic wool & wax paintings, at another, Rothko- esk shapes & colour experiments, and in yet another, imagined sounds and lives from these mills & my long-gone weaving kin from England & Scotland.
