Animates @ ArtPlay
TITLE: ANIMATES @ ArtPLay
VENUE: In April 2007, ANIMATES! was hosted by the City of Melbourne's ArtPlay program at Birrurung Marr behind Federation Square. MEDIA: magazine images, textiles, weird factory offcuts, photocopies, craft materials, paper & cardboards, packaging materials- you name it. Reverse Garbage is a great source for such materials. You can find recyclers like this in most cities or trawl the $2 shops & opp shops or Nana's bits & bobs cupboards if your'e really lucky... ANIMATES! has been run as part of the array of workshops at Croc Fest at Port Augusta in regional South Australia during 2005 and 2006. At ArtPlay in 2007, I collaborated with Mim Whiting, a community artist who works primarily with video. PROCESS: Creating animation scenarios working in groups, basic storyboarding, creating characters, backgrounds, props etc with the collage materials. Shooting the animation using a stills camera or a video camera. Transfering images to i-movie software, importing or recording sound effects and doing a basic edit to create an animation. All in 2 hours.... we were able to do some post-production on this project and sent a DVD of all 12 animations to each participant. |
